Job overview:


Do you have a passion for delivery of nutritional care within the community setting? This role will allow you to develop your clinical and professional skills as a Band 7 dietitian working within and leading (alongside another Band 7 dietitian) the community dietetic service in Salford.


Salford Royal is at the forefront of integrated working across acute and community settings which supports seamless and holistic care for Salford residents.


As an integrated the service, the Community dietetic team sits within the Salford Royal Care Organisation of 45 dietitians and 6 dietetic assistants based at various sites across Salford.

All of which excellent IT facilities within the department as the Trust has an electronic patient record system (EPR).


Main duties of the job:


The main aspect of the role is as joint team lead with day to day operational responsibility of the community team of 8 dietitians, 2 dietetic assistants and administrative staff.

0.3 wte of the role is clinical, focusing mainly on head and neck cancer patients, whilst ensuring a safe and effective delivery of home enteral feeding across the city.


We are looking for someone with a passion for community working, extensive post-registration clinical dietetic experience, ideally within a community setting.

Previous leadership experience is desirable.

The Co Team lead for the community dietetic team includes service development, rostering, appraisals, policy development (alongside dietetic manager).


The clinical role is mainly focussed on providing dietetic support to head and neck cancer patients but also other patients on the community dietetic caseload as required.

Qualifications & Registration:


Essential criteria:


  • HCPC registration
  • BSc Degree in Nutrition and dietetics or Post Diploma in dietetics

Desirable criteria:


  • Member of BDA
  • Higher degree or post registration in nutrition support or parental and enteral nutrition support

Knowledge and Skills:


Essential criteria:


  • Knowledge and experience working in the field including the clinical areas required for the post
  • Knowledge of nutritional needs and nutritional assessment in a range of clinical conditions
  • Working knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management
  • Previous experience of enteral feeding tube management
  • Evidence of CPD activities
  • Basic IT skills

Desirable criteria:


  • Previous experience of changing balloon gastrostomies.
  • Experience of team working
  • Experience of working with individuals and groups of staff and patients
  • To demonstrate an awareness and understanding of supporting equality and valuing diversity within their role
  • Audit and research skills to show ability to analyse statistical data
