Are you a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who has taken a break between qualifying and starting work as a Speech and Language Therapist? Or have you worked as a Speech and Language Therapist and taken a career break for two or more years?

Bromley Healthcare Speech and Language Therapy team will support you with your return-to-practice, through guiding you with the required private and professional study and supervised practice.

This role will begin as a Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant role, progressing to a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist role upon completion of the return-to-practice requirements as per HCPC guidelines.

There will be opportunities for supervised practice in the above environments in the Band 4 role in order to help satisfy the return-to-practice requirements and to support practitioner's confidence and skills in the clinical areas/settings in which they will work more autonomously once HCPC registered.

Upon completion of the return-to-practice requirements, Speech and Language Therapists could have opportunities to work:

  • In mainstream schools with children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • In our buyin service within mainstream schools who pay for Speech and Language Therapy to support children who have communication needs but do not have EHCPs.
  • In specialist/additionally resourced provisions supporting children with a variety of severe, additional and complex needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Difficulties, Developmental Language Disorder and Speech Disorders.
  • With preschool aged children at dropin clinics, onetoone followups, care pathways and in small groups
You will work with a mixed paediatric caseload who have a range of speech, language and communication needs.

You will be responsible for the management, assessment and treatment of the children on these caseloads, with the support of peers and more senior colleagues.
