The team


The Commissioning Team is responsible for a wide range of services including the commissioning and contract management of services across Integrated Adults and Social Care Services and Children's Social Care and Lifelong Learning Groups.


About the role.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team to assist in the delivery of this work as a Commissioning Officer.


Reporting to the Lead Commissioner, the successful applicant will be responsible for leading on the development and implementation of commissioning intentions for designated groups, contributing to the development of joint commissioning strategies and stimulating the market to meet the needs of Gateshead People ensuring services are high quality, value for money and sustainable.

You will work collaboratively alongside the Council's procurement team in managing the tendering and procurement process as appropriate.


You should have highly developed skills in project management, change management and decision making, analysis and interpretation of complex data and information.

You should be able to demonstrate leadership, managing teams and staff as well as an ability to self-manage and use own initiative, budget management, producing reports and a competent use of IT.


You will be educated to degree standard or equivalent professional experience and have a GCSE in Math's and English at Grade C/Level 5.
