Please note we are looking to fill multiple positions for this role, these are fixed-term contracts until March 2024 with the potential to become permanent


Working across the venue, you will work within the porter team to prepare and maintain spaces for a range of activities and events, providing exceptional customer service and care.

You will be a vital part of our visitor operations team working closely with the Front of House team but also with other departments across the organisation.


Activities include, moving furniture, barriers and other infrastructure as required, setting up spaces for meetings, managing incoming deliveries and post, working with Guest & Artist Liaison teams to welcome stakeholders to the building and facilitate access to back of house areas for contractors.


Completing basic maintenance tasks and working with our operations teams you will help to create a fantastic welcome for visitors in an exceptional new venue.


The key responsibilities for the Venue Porter role include:

  • Set up of event and back of house spaces as required for activities such as staging, meeting room and dressing room set-up
  • Working closely with the Access Manager and Group and Access Coordinator to provide exceptional customer care for our access customers across the venue including the removal of auditorium seats for wheelchair users
  • Working closely with our Facilities, Security and Cleaning teams to respond to customer and organisational need to provide a highquality experience for all site users including the setup of external safety barriers
  • Manage our deliveries and post, and the distribution of boxed marketing material
  • Working closely with other departments to oversee the movement of equipment, furniture, baggage or retail stock throughout the venue. Assist with the building of furniture when required
  • Maintain the safety and security of visitors, through proactive maintenance of public and back of house areas including the watering of plants
  • Assist with the moment of external and internal guests, stakeholders and contractors
  • Keeping a running inventory or schedule of the furniture and equipment throughout the building

The person specification for the Venue Porter is:

ESSENTIAL

  • Communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively across teams and with a variety of people internally and externally

  • Manual Handling

  • Ability to work safely and effectively whilst undertaking a range of manual handling activities in a publicly accessible space

DESIRABLE

  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • IOSH Working Safely qualification
  • Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent
