We are seeking an experienced
trust and tax administrator to work alongside a
trust manager and
tax technicians in a busy private client team.

This position can be based in our Southampton office.

Typical Workload


We seek a
trust and tax administrator, with a good working knowledge of trusts (their purpose and ongoing management) and a basic understanding of the relevant tax regime(s) to work in our busy private client team.

The core working hours are Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm. We have a hybrid approach to working, which we are happy to explore with you, but recommend c. 3 days in a week in the office.

The main responsibilities for the
trust and tax administrator will include working with (or in the absence of) the
trust manager and independently to:

  • manage a variety of UK trusts on a day-to-day basis
- organise and attend trustee meetings if required, drafting agendas and minutes of trustee meetings where appropriate
- assist with preparation of deeds of retirement and appointment for trustees, trustee resolutions and various other subsidiary documents
- deal with all routine compliance, including entering trust on the HMRC trust register, arranging and updating FATCA registrations, LEI registrations and CRS
- deal with day to day management of trust properties, including routine maintenance and arranging property insurance, in the absence of the Legal Support Assistant
- liaise with trustee, beneficiaries and their families, as required
- deal with investment managers, accountants and banks, where funds are held in external trust bank and savings accounts
- administer funds held on Blake Morgan's client account, managing receipts and arranging the payment of trust tax liabilities, distributions to beneficiaries and other trust expenses
- draft distribution and cashflow statements

Additionally, the
trust and tax administrator will use their basic knowledge of trust accounts and tax to work with the team's
tax technicians and
trust assistant to:

  • draft simple trust accounts
- assist with the preparation of self-assessment trust tax returns and tax computations
- raise queries with HMRC, as required
- provide book-keeping support, where capacity requires it


Skills / Experience Required

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience of working in a private client team dealing with trust administration, or in a finance team
  • Good IT skills, ideally experience of working with tax and accounts software packages
  • Committed to rigour around treating all clients fairly
  • Team player
  • Focused on attributing dedication, determination and loyalty to colleagues, clients and communities
  • Able to demonstrate continuous development and diversity in thinking
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Understands and complies with Information Security responsibilities commensurate with this role including Data Protection and the duty of confidentiality
