We are recruiting for capable and experienced COACHBUILDERS to work in our Torrance based vehicle workshop.

You will be joining a long established family business who are one of the leading repairers in the UK's vehicle industry.


Hours
Full time, 40 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am to 2.00pm.

Regular overtime available


About the role
As one of our COACHBUILDERS you will undertake coachbuilding on a variety of accident damaged vehicles and vehicle parts.

This will involve reinstatement of heavily damaged vehicle bodies, mainly buses & coaches, but also on a variety of HGV & LCV bodywork.


To be the right fit for this role, you should be fully conversant with the latest body building techniques & equipment.

You will also have a keen eye for detail and be capable of working to a high quality level.

Additional training will be available for technicians with HGV/car/van body experience and are enthusiastic to learn new skills.


Day-to-day duties & responsibilities

  • Working as part of our coachbuilding team, follow and understand relevant repair instructions, and achieve the work quality requirements
  • Undertake the strip down & rebuilding of heavy accident damaged buses & coaches
  • Undertake coachbuilding repairs to a variety of HGV box bodies/refrigerated bodies/curtain side bodies.
  • Make modifications/conversions to existing vehicle bodywork as required
  • Use a variety of specialist wood & metal working machinery & power tools safely.
  • MIG Welding & use of mechanical fixing systems
  • Good problem solving and manual skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Maintain the daily Health & Safety requirements of the company

Essential Skills

  • Have served a recognised apprenticeship as a Coachbuilder.
  • Must be fully time served within the vehicle/railway industry.
  • Gained Technical qualifications to carry out duties as a Coachbuilder.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern vehicle construction and repair processes
  • Flexible attitude to working hours and overtime

Strong communication skills, and the ability to work well individually or as part of a team. Health and Safety awareness within a vehicle bodyshop environment.

Licence
Transport Industry Coachbuilding Certificates (preferred)
