Rayne ward is a busy 32-bedded surgical ward specialising in the care of pre and post-operative patients ranging from upper and lower surgery, vascular and urology.

We are looking for caring and compassionate individuals to join our dedicated and dynamic team. You will need to be well motivated and committed to high standards of patient care and personal professional development.

Hospital experience is desirable but not essential as we can support you through your care certificate enabling you to fulfil the role.


Team working is an integral part of this ward with all staff enabled and empowered to make a real difference for their patients; we embrace a diverse team utilising each others skills, knowledge and experience.


From a personal development perspective, we can support any Health Care Assistant who would like to develop their career pathway and progress onto the Health Care Support Worker (band 3) and onto a nursing degree pathway or other careers available.

If you are successful at interview, we will provide you with career advice and a review of your qualifications to help you with your further career decisions.

The role includes night shifts, day shifts and weekends.

Supporting the RN in assessment of patient, performing clinical baseline observations.

Orientating patients and relatives to the ward environment, following plans of care; Recordingand documenting episodes of care in accordance with guidelines and liaising with other departments and members of the multidisciplinary team as directed by the nurse in charge.


Following local policies and procedures such as uniform policy and aware of own responsibilities to respect and maintain patient confidentiality.


Reporting problems to senior member of staff, recordinginformation as directed, informingappropriate personnel/department as directed, understanding how risk assessment is a normal part of patient care, recognising when a situation may lead to a complaint, and refers the situation to the nurse in charge, recognising vulnerable patients and reports concerns about welfare issues to the nurse in charge.


Completing care skills training and set out by the Trust, beingaccountable by making sure you can answer for your actions or omissions.

Promoting and uphold the privacy, dignity, rights, health and wellbeing of people who use health and care services and their carers at all times.

Working in collaboration with your colleagues to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare, care and support.

Communicating in an open, and effective way to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of people who use health and care services and their carers.
