Part-Time Travel Trainer
-
Contract: Permanent - (20 hours per week):


  • Core hours: 07:30
  • 09:30 AND 14:30

Main purpose of the Job:


To work with identified young people, on a 1:1 basis, with the outcome of helping them develop the skills to eventually be able to travel safely and independently using public transport.


Key Areas of responsibility

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To deliver travel training to young people on journeys to and from school/college in real-time (usually morning and afternoon journeys) following established travel training plans to enable them to develop road safety, problem solving and personal safety skills.
  • To complete route assessments to a high quality, identifying the safest route for identified young people and to then create the associated paperwork.
  • To adopt a flexible approach to the hours worked in order to attend work related activity, outside core hours, in accordance to the needs of the client and the organisation.
  • Liaise with Travel Training Co-ordinator / school / parents and carers regularly to monitor and evaluate progress of young people both verbally and in writing.
  • To participate in and follow any risk assessments and maintain good safety procedures for students when out in the community.
  • To identify, risk assess and follow safe and appropriate journeys for the individual.
  • To work with the schools/colleges identified and liaise with school staff as appropriate.
  • To comply with all Health and Safety and safe working policies and procedures
