About the role
A lovely school in the Burton area in need of someone who has lots of experience working with children who have Autism within a classroom environment.
This is a role to work with children who can have complex needs and really will need an experienced hand.
This role is a permanent one and full-time contract will be on offer after a successful interview.Experience needed
You must have experience working with children who have special needs and have an abundance of patience. You must be able to work independently and have multiple different teaching techniques. The ability to create your own sessions would be a bonus.
Examples of responsibilities
- Preparing learning resources.
- Encouraging children's confidence, self esteem and independence.
- Helping children understand instructions, through repetition, rephrasing or demonstrating.
- Putting into practice individual education, social and behavioural care
- Providing feedback and assistance to teachers.
- Supporting children in social activities and on outings.
- Assisting children during therapy sessions.
- The ability to work 1:1 and in groups.
Interview process
Step 1
Interview with a dedicated consultant to talk through the role.
Step 2
Have a meeting with the school SENCO to talk through expectations and responsibilities. Including a walk around the school.
Step 3
Trial day in school to take part in different activities.
