Catering Assistant:


21 hours, 15 minutes per week


We require a Catering Assistant with a flexible approach to undertake a range of catering responsibilities, depending on the operational needs of the catering facility.

These will include operating the tills, washing up, preparing food, and serving students and staff. This role will also include some manual handling (packing away the deliveries).

The hours of work for this post are 10am - 2:15pm Monday to Friday.

The position will work on a rotated basis to cover all sections within the kitchen. Catering experience is desirable, but not essential, as is Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene. Training is available if required.

You are asked to provide the following:

  • The Gryphon School, part of the Sherborne Area Schools Trust, has an absolute commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The Trust and School follows the national and Somerset policies and procedures for child protection and security and the interview will include questions about safeguarding children._ Current and/or previous employers will be contacted for references as part of the verification process pre-appointment checks if the applicant is short listed. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service._
  • This role is UK based and your right to work will need to be established as part of the appointment process._
