Hybrid role, minimum of 3 days per week in the office A Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Administrator is required to play a key role in the processing of DOLS referrals, ensuring statutory timescales are met and are line with DOLS Code of Practice


Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the administration of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards requests ensuring statutory timescales are met and are compliant with the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice ensuring assessments are completed by the appropriate Best Interest Assessor and authorised by a suitable Authorising Officer.
  • Commission on behalf of the supervisory body Best Interest Assessors, Mental Health Assessors, and Independent Mental Capacity Advocates. To ensure when required that representatives are appointed with the appropriate support and guidance.
  • Monitor current Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards authorisations to ensure that no authorisation expires without a further standard authorisation or review requested.
  • Manage a small caseload of deputyship/appointeeship cases by assessing the appropriate level and extent of intervention required to ensure financial affairs are adequately managed and independence and choice maintained.
  • Communicate with providers, assessors and members of the public.

Qualifications:


  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C and above) or equivalent.
  • IT qualification equivalent to the competency level of ECDL/CLAIT.
  • NVQ II in Business Administration or equivalent.

Experience & Knowledge:


  • Previous knowledge of DoLS would be an advantage but not essential as training and support will be provided.
  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
  • Knowledge of working with people with mental incapacity.
  • Experience of working in an administrative or finance function.
  • Knowledge of benefits and pensions payable to service users by DWP etc.
  • Experience of working with internal and external customers to provide an excellent quality service.

  • Ability to pick up new systems or processes quickly in a fastpaced role.
  • Ability to analyse, extract and produce accurate reporting data.

  • Excellent communication skills: ability to express clearly in written and spoken word and be able to influence, negotiate and persuade in service user's best interests.
  • Excellent numeracy and budgetary skills, including the ability to ensure that the service user's resources and those of the County Council are used to maximum effect.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
