Full time 37.5 hours per week


The Access, Booking and Choice team at the Royal Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has a vacancy for an Inpatient / Outpatient Facilitator.


The role would suit an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible person looking for a challenge in a post that is both interesting and varied.

The role will involve the management of all aspects of the integrated patient pathway, working closely with the Capacity Planning Co-ordinators and the Booking teams.


Duties include supporting the day to day operational management of designated specialties, proactively handling all access and booking issues working alongside Operational Business and Clinical Managers to support the proactive management of access capacity and demand to support the delivery of the national 18 weeks RTT and Cancer targets.

The post holder will also be expected to be involved in the implementation of new working practices and innovation.


You will also need to have good IT and organisational skills, with the ability to deal sensitively and confidently with people.

A good level of attention to detail is essential as is the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Supporting the daily operational management of capacity and booking for Inpatients and Outpatients.
  • Work flexibly to ensure all aspects of the services are supported in terms of staffing and resources, ensuring staff are redeployed effectively to meet the service needs.
  • Follow robust systems in place that assist the service user and the
staff to provide a safe and effective access and booking experience.

  • Will have a clear understanding and working knowledge of all current
access targets and will understand how and when these interlink, always
ensuring the best possible patient and trust outcome to services provided
within their designated speciality.

  • Meet frequently as required with the Capacity Planning Co-Ordinator to flag any issues relating to capacity and demand and staffing.
  • Actively seeking new ways of working that will assist staff to provide a quality service at all times
  • Contributing to success against locally and nationally agreed targets, including waiting list management, validation and adherence to RTT timeframes


The Access, Booking & Choice team is a multi faceted team with competing priorities covering outpatients, inpatients and the cancer pathway.

It is an integral support service to all divisions and specialities.
