Overview:

This role provides administrative support to serve and support the delivery of the Building Control service.

About us:

Now in its third year, Buckinghamshire Council brings together the best of the previous five councils to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses.

We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire locally and nationally.

Building Control is virtually unique amongst council services in that it is in competition with the private sector so it is essential that the post holder has excellent customer care skills as well as knowledge of the service, to ensure the service maintains high market share.

About the role:

  • Registration of demolition notices and the distribution of the notice to interested bodies
  • To upload competent person notifications to the database and action appropriately
  • To provide information to the general public, applicants and agents regarding general Building Control matters (e.g. fees, procedures etc.) by phone or face to face.
  • To understand the commercial nature of Building Control and to be involved in the promotion of the Building Control team and assist in marketing of the Local Authority Building Control service.
  • To deal with incoming and outgoing post, ensuring that the database is kept up to date.

Any-Desk:

As an 'any-desk' worker, you'll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required.

You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About you:

You will need to be a good team worker and want to be able to sell the service, maintain customer satisfaction and work paper-free, maintaining good electronic records.

As the role is customer-facing, the ability to converse at ease with customers and advice in accurate spoken English.

Good general education (up to GCSE Grades A-C English and Maths or equivalent) is required.

Other information:

For further information on this role, please see the attached job summary.

The team is currently working both remotely and in the office.
