F/T 35 hours per week
Salary £25408 pa
The client is a community focused local authority which also manages 5 facilities over the 12 estates. They actively engage with partners and residents to address concerns and wishes of the community. They are the lowest level of government; they are not Vicarof Dibley nor are they Parliament Question time - they are local people helping other people "

They are looking for a Full Time (35 hours a week) Parish Ranger to join us as our team is expanding.

They are looking for a positive, multi trade experienced, practical person who likes variety in their daily tasks, working outside, inside, individually andwith others.


Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the parish, by patrolling and inspecting all estates and their open spaces, taking direct action to remedy deficiencies or report issues.
  • Work with all the GLPC partners to develop a network of resources.
  • Carry out targeted community events i.e., Community Litter Picks, Tidy Up Day, etc as either the sole "parish ranger" or in conjunction with others to engage residents.
  • Manage and be the responsible person for the safe working of all community groups.
  • Carry out periodic inspections to comply with Health and Safety Reviews
  • Assess and provide basic repairs to all aspects relating to the management and operational process of any parish facility or asset.
  • Provide landscaping activities to the environment within GLPC boundaries.
  • Assist the Business Support officer with the inspection and maintenance of the allotment sites.
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety guidelines for yourself and the public are adhered to and that training is up to date.
  • Plus any additional task when required
  • Experience of working in a Multi Trade environment
  • Experience of landscape or environment activities and relevant tools/machinery
  • Understanding of basic DIY
  • Ability to undertake repairs using a range of tools
  • H&S awareness
  • Full Driving Licence

The core ours are Monday to Friday but Rangers are required to work at the weekends to cover events but these are planned in advance and plenty of notice is given, days off in the week will be agreed when weekend work is requires - currently no more than oneSaturday a month.

The job is very varied, is a blend of the predictable and unpredictable and requires you to have a sunny disposition to get the most out of the tasks and the people you work with and for.

The job does require some heavy lifting and manual work.
