Job description:
The Nuclear Directorate is focused on building the next generation of nuclear power plants, cleaning up our nuclear legacy, protecting energy supply and nuclear sites from threats and hazards, and protecting the UK from nuclear proliferation risks.
You would be joining the Nuclear Safety, Resilience and Regulation team in delivering a critical role on UK preparedness to a radiation emergency either in the UK or abroad.
In particular as part of the Programme Management Office (PMO) you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of the Radiological Response Emergency Management System (RREMS) and the gamma monitor network which feeds into RREMS.
These projects are both a critical part of the UK's national capability and help safeguard the public.
You will be a key member of the PMO team with responsibility for ensuring all project documentation is in place and kept up to date, including monitoring and tracking milestones, risks and issues, escalating issues where required.
This is likely to include:
- Delivery
- Supporting day to day management of projects to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
- Governance
- Work with stakeholders to provide key documentation to time and manner required, to support effective governance and decision making.
- Risks and Issues
- Lead on managing risk registers. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate engaging with stakeholders to identify, monitor and key risks and issues for the Project.
- Business Case
- Support and advise colleagues on the development of Business Cases.
- Budget
- Track delivery within budget and approve invoices.
- Change Management
- Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place.
In addition to working in the PMO, the post-holder will provide project management support across the team more widely, working closely with other colleagues.

To manage and coordinate RREMS budget in alignment with financial lead and wider team input, which includes supporting business planning, spending reviews and budget control.
