As part of the Transport UK Group, West Midlands Trains delivers around 1,300 train journeys a day, for more than 60 million passengers a year, across our two brands - West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway.

We are committed to delivering a safe and reliable train service, by investing in our fleet of trains, stations and employees.

As part of this investment, we are looking to recruit an On Train Cleaner, on a full time, permanent basis, based at Birmingham New Street.

What does the job involve?

Use of specialist cleaning chemicals and equipment
Take responsibility for materials and equipment provided to carry out tasks required
Complete audit sheets as required and report nonconformances to the Train Presentation Supervisor
Disposal of rubbish removed from trains in the appropriate location
Remove full bin liners and reline on train bins when found full
Ensure compliance with processes and procedures in respect of the Environmental Management System to ISO14001 quality and safety systems
Able to make decisions based on skills training and own initiative within predetermined programme of work

What skills and experience do I need to do the job?

A willingness to learn and work to company set company standards
Flexibility you could be on an early, late or night shift including weekends
Being a great communicator both written and verbal communication
Happy to be training on how to handle biohazards and sharps
Being happy to work on and off trains and platforms at stations
Comfortable working alone on occasions, but also as part of a cleaning team at the station

- £23,254 per annum rising up to £27,142 after successful completion of probation
