Positive Employment is currently recruiting a Procurement Support Officer for our client based in Newham.


Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Gather tender and all other information necessary to assist the Procurement Managers, Procurement Support Manager and Strategic Procurement Officer/s.
  • To manage and maintain information on tender invitations and awarded contracts within appropriate filing systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts and monitoring of contractor performance.
  • Provide advice to Council officers on specifying and procuring quality works and services in accordance with the Council's Contract Standing Orders.
  • Assist colleagues and Council officers in the production of tendering documents and statutory notices.
  • To comply with all Audit requirements and ensure that all procurement activity is properly documented in a clear, auditable and transparent manner.
  • Maintain computer databases, procurement systems and spreadsheets and to provide reports when required.
  • Answer telephone queries, complaints and correspondence from the public, employers, staff, other sections and organisations in line with policy and procedures.
  • Diary management, arranging of meetings and training courses, agendas, venues/rooms.
  • To conduct research required by the Strategic Procurement Service.
  • The post holder will be required to go out of the office to visit schools, partner organisations and other offices during the course of their work.

Personal Requirements:


  • Understands the basic planning techniques
  • Able to use IT effectively and analyse data.
  • An understanding of Local Government and is aware of information governance issues and legislation.
  • Demonstrable experience and/ or understanding of the technical aspects of information and communications system technology operations and development in a corporate environment, including the exploitation of emergent technologies.
  • Sound working knowledge of information technology including spread sheets, word processing and presentations.
  • 2 years references.
