We are currently recruiting for a Retail Process Control Operative to join our Maelor Foods Team as follows;

Hours of Work
39.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday

(09:00am to 18:00pm Monday - Thursday, and 09:00am to 17:30pm Friday)

Hourly rate - £11.

Weekly Pay (Gross) - £464.94 inc paid break

Salary (Gross) - £24,176.88 per annum *inc paid break

Role Duties

  • To carry out finished product checks to the required standard and record the results
  • Verify line checks and highlighting issues as they arise both on and off the lines with Production Supervisor and QA Supervisor in the first instance
  • To carry out weight checks and record details as require
  • To complete all relevant paperwork for traceability purposes and to file all recorded information as required by law
  • To take responsibility for quality issues by following up on discrepancy as result of checks carried out
  • Accurate and timely Process Control Checks;
  • Accurate recording of checks and production information;
  • Accurate adherence to product specifications;
  • Temperature monitoring of product & or rooms, chillers or any other product or area as required
  • Follow correct personal hygiene procedures (e.g. changing procedure, hand washing procedures, etc)
  • Operate to a clean as you go policy
  • To carry out critical control point (CCP) checks in accordance with your training, records of which must be retained on site.
  • Report any issues with quality of the product to Line Supervisor and taking photos where necessary
  • To perform microbiological sampling; which involves collecting and collating samples
  • To perform Animal welfare checks and be involved in all aspects of WATOK to ensure site is complaint

Quality and Food Hygiene

  • Complying with Company hygiene policies and procedures when undertaking operations while maintaining high standards of personal hygiene including the correct wearing of all PPE.
  • Monitoring and recording quality and food safety performance where applicable.

Learning & Development

  • Attending Company Training courses/sessions which will support your continuous personal development to ensure our manufacturing capability keeps pace with or exceeds our customer requirements. It will cover; food quality, food safety, health & safety, animal welfare where applicable and other aspects of competence required by legislation.
  • Demonstrating competence in trained factory tasks.
  • Following information and instruction given to the best of your ability

Animal Welfare

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures as well as current legislation relating to bird welfare.

To ensure maximum efficiencies within the operation, flexibility is essential. Individuals will be required to assist in other areas which could include other departments within the business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Attention to detail
  • Confident in the completion of process paperwork (due diligence and traceability documentation)
  • To be assertive as and when required when dealing with Line Supervisors and Production Operatives
  • Good record keeping and analytical skills
  • Numeracy and literacy to a good standard
  • Quality focused
  • Good oral and verbal communication skills and able to work on own initiative
  • Good team player
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Help the team to meet department targets
  • Flexible and able to work additional hours when required
  • Keen to learn new tasks and develop skills
  • Have a cando attitude; willing to learn other tasks as required
  • Able to work in slaughterhouse environment
  • Comfortable with handling live birds
  • Previous experience in a quality checking/control/assurance role would be beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience of working within poultry / meat industry
  • Previous experience of working in FMCG environment
