I am disabled motivational speaker who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, therefore I am completely paraplegic and I only have the use of my thumb.

I live independently and I am looking for people to assist me to live on my own.


Job description
My names is Rhys Bowler I'm a motivational speaker from Pontypridd. I'm 36 and I suffer from a life threatening muscle wasting condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

I have lost the use of my entire body I am confined to a wheelchair and permanently bound to a ventilator.

I only have the use of my thumb which I drive my chair with.

I live in a flat on my own independently with the use of carers, I have as close to 24 hour care as possible.

In 2017 I lost my brother he was a fellow sufferers, he sadly died at 27 from DMD, my entire world fell apart he was my rock and support network my version of a wife and kids.

It broke my heart. It's taken me 2 years but I've started motivational speaking in his honour.

I need position filled very urgently ASAP As it is for my main PA position which is the bulk of my hours, and is an integral part of my care plan without it cannot function.

I'm looking for PA who is a work horse the general of my team so to speak, someone who can put up with me "good luck with that lol" as we will be spending a lot of time together.

I'm looking for someone to
Monday Tuesday and Sunday evening every week. Also every other weekend total of 39 hours a fortnight at £10.00 hourly rate.
It will include 3 overnight sits 9.00 till 9.00 every Tuesday, Sunday night and alternate Saturday night.

Although I am very flexible times are negotiable only exception is a Sunday as you'll be required to take me to band practice.

You will be earning a total of £670 a fortnight.

Monday is a split shift at 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. you'll be required to get me up and dressed.

Come back around 2 o'clock for 2.5 hours to help me eat my lunch and then shower me this is very important call and is essential as I am only able to have 2 showers a week.

I really return back in the evening to prepare me some food or to assist me to the toilet if needed.

Times are flexible with the exception of morning call.

Tuesday you'll be required to get me washed and dressed once again 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Then take me out for the afternoon for 4 hours.

Come back then leaving for the overnight shift around 9 once again times are flexible except morning and can be negotiated.

Saturday is also a split shift, the morning routine 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Come over then around 2 PM and assist with lunch and toilet.

Then return around 5:30 PM and usually stay until you begin the shift at 9 usually a like to go out for the evening.

(Times are negotiable)

Sunday 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Assist me to get up before you go home. Come over then around 2 PM and assist with lunch and toilet. 6 PM Come over and stay with me overnight. Assist me to get up of Monday morning it's again before leaving.

Hours with likely increase depending on where I need to be. I would prefer someone who is or would go self-employed.

Must be able to drive and have a full drivers licenses as you'll be required to take me out and about.

I'm looking for someone reliable whom I can depend.

Open minded friendly and easy going someone with plenty of energy with positive attitude I need you to be extremely flexible and above all reliable.

Ideally I am looking for someone quite spontaneous and is free majority of the time who doesn't have any ties as such.

As I am planning quite a few trips this year to clear the lockdown blues LOL

Tasks would normally include driving taking me out on day trips or evenings to cinema socializing and occasionally going away to music festivals and also taking me to band practice (as I'm a pure metal head lol) generally living me life, making tea ( I enjoy a nice cuppa tea like 10 a day lol), preparing meals.

Also completing general personal care tasks (i.e. toileting showering and shaving me, making me look pretty ). No qualifications needed as full training given by me.
