£35.78 p/hr, including pro-rata holiday and preparation time


Are you a creative English literacy tutor able to engage adults in purposeful tasks that develop their communication abilities as well as digital and basic maths skills.

We are seeking English tutors who promote task and project-based learning to further the purpose of the Universals Skills department to develop the skills all adults need to participate, make progress and express themselves in a modern society.

We are particularly interested in tutors with expertise in developing the literacy skills of neuro-diverse adults.

We are currently seeking tutors to teach on courses such as English communication skills - for life and work (level 1) | Skills for life course | London | City Lit and Becoming an environmental citizen: how to read, research and understand data (entry 3-level 1) | Skills for life course | London | City Lit

You will particularly attract our interest if you address the below points:


  • Proven experience and success in teaching English and literacy skills to adults including nonaccredited provision.
  • General competence in digital skills and maths and an ability to enable students at E3 and L1 level to develop these skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of teaching in a way that promotes student participation, progression and expression.
  • Experience and success in teaching English in a way that promotes student participation, progression and expression.
  • Experience of facilitating the development of English skills through imaginative and creative tasks that promote problemsolving, decisionmaking, analysing and collaboration and other indemand common work skills.
  • Experience of supporting learners to invest in their learning so they are aware of what they need to do to improve both within a class and over the length of a course.
