We're looking for a Legal Officer with a specialism in Property to join our Legal Services team and contribute to the positive differences we are making to the lives of many.
About this Legal Officer (Property) job opportunity:
This role broadly resembles that of a Paralegal in the wider legal sector.
Here's what you'll get up to:
- You will deal with all Right to Buy conveyancing matters.
- Whilst working unsupervised, you'll manage a routine conveyancing caseload of both residential and commercial matters. This will include new leases, lease management, purchases, sales, easements and licences.
- You'll help to look after the archiving and record keeping of land and other transactions.
- You will be answering property enquiries from both internal and external customers, whilst liaising with the Land Registry.
- For more complex transactions, you will also provide support to the Principal Lawyer that oversees Property here at Canterbury City Council.
Working pattern:
- Our Legal Officers (Property) work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

About you, the ideal Legal Officer for the job:
- Your knowledge_
- You will need a practical understanding of Property Law and of the conveyancing process.
- Your Experience_
- You should have experience in a legal practice and conveyancing and have sound knowledge of Right to Buy Legislation.
- You will have previously used case management systems, as well as IT in general.
