An exciting, challenging and rewarding career opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join one of the UKs largest commercial vehicle converters.

  • Stor Systems Ltd, part of The HEX Group, are the UK's largest converter of lightweight commercial vehicles. We are a privatelyowned business employing approximately 240 people and have been operating for over 35 years.


Reporting to the Operations Director, the role is hands on in a fast-paced purchasing environment and oversees a purchasing department, strategic development across direct & indirect spend areas and is an escalation point for the purchasing function.

This role would suit a highly motivated, resilient Buyer with management calibre credentials looking to further develop their career.

Key Responsibilities:


  • To liaise with production to ensure parts are available to support a dynamic build schedule.
  • Drive the development and implementation of procurement strategies and processes to deliver maximum value, leverage, and standardisation.
  • Work closely with engineering to support design and prototype builds.
  • Build and maintain collaborative supplier relationships (internal group companies and externally) and introduce innovation for customer consideration.
  • Drive strategic supplier selection, supplier resourcing, cost down, total cost optimisation and supplier development through quality, process and delivery improvements.
  • Mentor & develop direct reports (team of 3).
  • Lead on key supplier accounts to ensure customer requirements are fed back through the supply chain.
  • Setting objectives to team & providing monthly reporting/KPI'S, establishing & maintaining measurable performance metrics.
  • Manage & develop cost savings initiatives in line with overall business objectives.
  • Support inventory optimisation, utilising analysis regarding slow moving/non
- moving, excessive stock items, and items low in stock

  • Implement and drive our technology adoption agenda supporting a culture of
Continuous Improvement within the team to enhance the business delivery


Key Skillset Requirements:


  • Demonstrable strategic sourcing experience.
  • Understanding of procurement and drive for achieving best total cost acquisition within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to mentor, lead and develop staff.
  • Be able to work in a fastpaced reactive environment and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Have a genuine interest in procurement practices.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Selfmotivated, confident and proactive.
  • Commercially aware.
  • An effective team player.
  • Knowledge of the supply chain process.
  • Be familiar with MRP computer systems (Sage would be advantageous).
  • Good IT, literacy, numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with being audited (ISO/IATF)
  • CIPS qualified or willing to undergo study support towards a CIPS qualification.
