Business Services Directorate (BSD) is an operational delivery directorate, covering some 300 staff and a budget of £12m providing high volume, often transactional, services to the public or supporting the provision of these services by others.
- Supporting those in financial distress, tackling financial wrongdoing and maximising returns to creditors.
- Making statutory redundancy payments to employees of insolvent companies.
- Providing a first point of contact for all insolvency service enquiries.
- Processing distributions to creditors from PPI compensation payments.
- Providing estate accounting and other business services to the Agency.
Job description:
Our A2(AO) case officers work as part of busy operational delivery teams providing administrative and customer service functions across a range of different services provided to the public by the Business Services Directorate.
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Answering a broad spectrum of customer enquiries.
- Dealing with members of the public, private sector firms (e.g. solicitors) by telephone, letter and in person.
- Researching information and making decisions based on available evidence, legislation, protocols and procedures.
- Liaising with specialist staff on technical matters.
- Inputting and updating information on office databases and case management systems.
Operational Delivery Officers have the vital job of keeping the country running.
They make sure that citizens get the services and protection they need, and help people understand what is available and what they need to do to comply with the rules.
Operational Delivery Officers make a difference every day to the lives of millions of people. They do hundreds of jobs in most departments and agencies in central government. They also work in local government, delivering services for towns, cities, boroughs or counties.
This apprenticeship will give you great development opportunities to equip you to be an internationally recognised professional in the part of the Civil Service that really makes things happen for customers and businesses.
A career in operational delivery is varied and involves working on the front line in different public-facing environments.
You will be dealing with different types of customers and delivering a range of public services, but the skills and behaviours you need will be the same whatever you do.
Duties will depend on who the public service employer is and what they are responsible for: you could find yourself working in any occupational delivery area of central or local government.
This apprenticeship opportunity may be of particular interest to school/college leavers, university graduates or those who do not have the relevant experience but may be looking for a change in career and have a keen interest in learning a new skill.

To be successful in this apprenticeship you will understand the commitment needed to complete an apprenticeship, have a motivation for learning, be highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks and have a can-do positive attitude.
