Role Profile
The role of the Laser Machinist will be responsible for the Laser production requirements producing conforming products to customer requirements.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Promote a positive, participative, and proactive safety culture throughout the laser cell / area that focus on the safety of people / components
- Follow all relevant Safe Systems of Work and report EHS concerns
- Set up the laser machine as required to produce high quality components
- Ensure the quality of the cut meets the required specifications and tolerances
- Perform Laser operations using the different laser machines
- Develop tooling solutions and fixturing as needed
- Provide methods and technical support to other members of the team wherever necessary
- Ensure that full documentation is kept up to date detailing the path, featuring, and tooling information where required
- Contribute new ideas and positive support to the current processes by improving productivity
- Assist in solving manufacturing and quality issues utilising root cause and analysis tools
- Ability to fault find any low level issues that are encountered and implement any rectifications as required
- Optimise programs for cycle time reductions
- Communicate with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the manufacturing process.
- Support and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives across Shop Operations
- To carry out any other duties that may be necessary to meet departmental objectives
Person Specification:
- Ability to understand, interpret and work to Engineering drawings and to work to tight tolerances
- Team player with the ability to work alone and use own initiative with minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to support the business needs.
- An in depth knowledge of laser machining.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to develop others.
- A commitment to implement and develop business improvement initiatives across the cell.
