Salary; £22,000 - £24,000 basic (dependent on experience) OTE £30k

Location; Blackburn Offices

Full-time, permanent position

Hours; 8:30am -5:30pm or 8am - 5pm no weekends

_Responsibilities as an Underwriter;_

  • Underwrite all customer types and score bands within defined procedural guidelines.
  • Ensuring all Underwriting department Service Level Agreements are fully met as a minimum
  • Maintaining an acceptable level of bad debt by aligning Underwriting each proposal
  • Receive and professionally handle all calls made into the Underwriting department
  • Check & verify all proofs of identification, income and expenditure received by customers
  • Assess customer documentation to establish affordability adequately and accurately for the loan
  • Stakeholder engagement and develop strong relations with our sales team and other internal departments
  • Complete validation calls with customers to assess creditworthiness and affordability
  • Check legal documentation to ensure accuracy

_Experience we require as an Underwriter;_

  • A systematic thought processes with decision making skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a highly persuasive telephone technique
  • Ability to manage high volume of task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial information
  • Strong focus on ensuring good customer outcome
  • A focus on stakeholder engagement
  • Previous experience in Financial Services or as an Underwriter preferable.
