Our Waste Water Incident Response team have an opportunity for you to join as our new
Senior Technical Operator
In this role you'll be based from our central base at Minworth, you'll cover the whole Severn Trent area.


You'll ensure we meet our key business objectives Safer Better & Faster, including the 4 Production Principles - protecting the environment, a proactive mind-set, technical expertise and driving highest site standards.


The role will give you the opportunity to be outdoors, for most of your working day, with all that comes with that, you will find yourself in urban and rural settings so you will be provided with equipment, work clothing and a company vehicle from the base location.

You'll support the team manager with health and safety compliance and asset improvements.

While managing on site incident management of waste water events including logístical coordination, resource planning and site supervision of multiple operatives and HGV drivers.

You'll also create/review contingency plans and help with completing pollution storyboards.


The role requires someone who can take over on site tankering operations during shift change over to allow the team to provide a 24/7 service and also help with identifying and delivering efficiency savings, such as power reduction and chemical usage through process optimisation.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday 11am - 7pm. You'll also be part of an out of hours standby cover rota.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Mentor, coordinate and deliver training and awareness to staff across the Waste Water Incident Response Team to improve performance when responding to an event.
  • Setting up of traffic management required to enable safe and effective waste water tankering operations.
  • Electronically raising traffic management sketches for notices and permits reactively or when building planned works via the use of a laptop or handheld device on STW IT systems.
  • Liaise and communicate as required with other departments and third parties including Transport, Operations and Maintenance, Network Control, line managers, escalated external logistics support and other relevant parties.
  • Perform & record daily and weekly vehicles checks as per STW procedures, reporting any defects to relevant parties and make sure they're maintained, clean and in a roadworthy condition.
  • Ensure you comply with the Working Time Directive and driving regulations and Provide additional logístical and equipment support to other areas of the organisation when and where required.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE


We're seeking our new Senior Technical Operator to be comfortable complying with the Working Time Directive and driving regulations, while providing additional logístical and equipment support to other areas of the organisation when and where required.


You'll have experience in working with customers and the general public, managing own driver time using driver books, be computer literate, have a knowledge of waste water networks/operations and hold a full and valid Category C Driving Licence.

To be successful, it's expected that you'll have excellent problem solving and communication skills.

With the ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions and to dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances an arrival.
