We currently have an opportunity for a Medical Secretary to join our Outpatients Department at Minehead Community Hospital.
We are a strong, proactive team who welcome innovation and adaptability within the service.

Main duties of the job_
We are looking for someone who'll be able to pull on their excellent organisational skills to provide a high quality service to Outpatients, maintaining departmental and Trust targets in line with Standard Operating Procedures.
As well as being part of the busy department, you'll be required to prioritise your own workload on a day-to-day basis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To ensure all clinical and nonclinical correspondence are reported and typed within local targets.
- To work closely with all grades of clinical and administrative staff, along with other employees within the Trust. To liaise with patients, GP's and otherexternal agencies.
- To communicate effectively in writing and verbally on a daily basis.
- To ensure all results of tests and investigations are tracked effectively, shown to the relevant consultant promptly and to undertake appropriate action as instructed.
- To independently deal with patient/carer telephone calls and enquiries in an efficient, sensitive and confidential manner, exercising judgement to analyse and resolve any problems and referring on to the clinician as appropriate.
- All clinic outcomes must be recorded accurately and complete or amend any that have not been done.
- A good knowledge of Word, Excel, Maxims, Rio and other hospital systems would be of benefit for new recruits.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good standard of general education to include GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
- Typing to RSA II/OCR II or equivalent level of speed and accuracy (40wpm)
- Audio Typing Qualification
- Medical terminology qualification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in a similar secretarial role
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Ability to use medical terminology appropriately
