The Role:


Our Client an FMCG company are looking for an experienced Senior buyer to provide full support and assistance to the Senior Commodity Manager within the ingredients and packaging division.

You will be responsible for the following areas and activities:

  • You will lead and act as a commercial representative working in a cross-functional environment, delivering against agreed challenging targets: driving efficiencies and ensuring best total cost of acquisition while minimising risk.
  • Working with the Commodity Manager Ingredients and Packaging to ensure best value across spend, driving change and ensuring strategic roadmaps are delivered.
  • You will be responsible for reporting your category areas, delivering synergies and savings across your spend area, ensuring supplies are sourced and maintained in a sustainable manner.
  • Developing the sourcing commodities strategy.
  • Assist in SRM of your suppliers and manage the contracts of smaller suppliers.
  • Maintain a supplier assessment programme and drive improvements in supplier performance.
  • Develop and manage supplier contracts for major areas of spend.
  • Forecast and understand major commodity price trends.
  • Drive to improve supplier quality and service.
  • Identify cost savings through spend analysis and benchmarking/tender processes, new technology, alternative suppliers, nontraditional sources v traditional sources etc.
  • Report cost savings on a monthly basis.
  • Work within and lead crossfunctional teams to understand and define business requirements and deliver valueadding projects.
  • Maintain SAP contracts, sourcing and pricing.

The Person:

Essential Criteria:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a mid/senior purchasing position preferably within the FMCG sector
  • Strong Purchasing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent Communication and IT Skills (Word / Excel / PowerPoint
