Description
Position Summary

Our team is responsible for the product management in Europe of a suite of owned and operated global products developed by Samsung for use on our range of TVs, smartphones and tablets.

We work very closely with our business development and ads colleagues, and the three teams together comprise ESBO, the European Services Business Office, based in Covent Garden, London.

The team is still relatively new and expanding fast.

Our principal products include Universal Guide, the content discovery part of Samsung Smart TVs, Samsung Health, a subscription service that provides fitness and health content on TVs, and TV Plus, which offers extensive TV channels and video on demand with no subscription or sign-ups.

Our product and content roadmap is ambitious and exciting.

With support from design, development and PM teams from around the world, we are constantly expanding the scope of TV Plus, developing new channel propositions, launching on new devices and in new European territories.

Role and Responsibilities

The main area of focus of this role will be to manage the scheduling and curation of a growing number of owned and operated channels that are exclusive to the product, using cloud-based scheduling tools.

These channels are primarily targeted at the UK and Germany, but other significant territories such as France, Spain and Italy will require support too.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Create scheduling strategies for up to five separate owned and operated channels taking into account viewer preferences and habits in key day parts
  • Implement the schedule strategy across the channels you have responsibility for
  • Devise and create editorial stunts for your channels for both live schedules and for video on demand in order to drive incremental viewing
  • Run and ensure continuity of promos on your channels to maximise marketing and comms opportunities
  • Ensure that content curation for your channels is kept fresh and enticing
  • Work alongside the marketing and promotions team to keep curation in sync with promotional initiatives
  • Make key content, scheduling and marketing recommendations for our owned and operated channels to maximise audience potential
  • Develop and nurture positive working relationships with colleagues, content partners and other teams within Samsung and be able to give and take constructive feedback when needed
What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:
Above all we're looking for a content authority who enjoys being part of a team with the following skills and attributes:

  • Previous experience of working as a scheduler for a public-facing entertainment product, preferably with TV or video assets
  • Editorial skills: a good understanding of content, audiences and viewer habits, and the ability to make key content decisions based on interpreting performance data
  • A sound editorial judgement, with awareness to know when to seek guidance and a second opinion when needed-
  • Effective planning and organisational skills. The ability to handle several initiatives at once and prioritising tasks effectively, and reacting to late requests and constantly evolving events
  • The ability to maintain standards of accuracy and attention to detail when working to tight deadlines
  • Experience of managing presentation imagery, and the ability to determine what makes a good image composition
  • A good understanding of metadata and how it can be used to support content promotion
  • A high standard of written and spoken English
  • Calmness, enthusiasm, sense of humour, a can-do attitude and the willingness to pitch in when needed
  • A genuine passion for video on demand and TV products in general, with a desire to build the best product experience possible
  • The ability to speak a second European language, particularly German, is desirable but not essential
What does success look like?

We want someone who is a really positive and proactive teammate, who'd rather figure out a smarter way of doing something than keep doing it the same way.

We're a highly-functioning small team with a start-up mentality, knowing that we have the resources and potential of one of the most exciting tech companies that exists today.

We're relying on the right person to bring their passion and love of media and entertainment to help us build the best user experience we can, and take pride in a good job done.

We don't just want a 'scheduler' - we want someone who can spot opportunities and help to make things better.
