Brief Overview


Oadby and Wigston Borough council are looking for two Premises Officers to join our Corporate Assets management team to carry out a full range of maintenance, repair and general attendance tasks across our property and teams.

There are two roles available, working alternate hours back-to-back in a coordinated shift pattern to cover full days.

Monday to Friday 6.30 am through to 9.00 pm (6.30 am pm pm pm) There may be occasions where a weekend day may be required to work for cover in which weekdays can be taken off in lieu of days worked.

The role will include working both inside and outside, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.


Working to a certain extent on your own initiative, and working in a number of diverse and varied environments, you should have excellent time management and organisational skills in order to program your work efficiently and logically.


Main Duties:
Work will include locking and unlocking of Brocks Hill offices daily. Cleaning duties at the offices and other locations across the borough.

Provide a service to ensure the security, cleaning, health and safety, setting up of premises and minor repairs and maintenance of all Corporate Asset buildings is completed.

Set up and move furniture and equipment for meetings, events or office moves. Monitor cleanliness levels at all council buildings and report any issues back to manager. Operate a post service between cemetery and council offices as required.


Carry out cyclical compliance and checks at our offices, pavilions and other property and premises and allotments across the borough including fire and building risk assessments (other than housing stock) ensuring they are secure and adequately maintained, inspected and serviced; report any faults back to manager.

Carry out the regular routine testing of fire alarms and emergency lighting across all buildings. Document tests and arrange for repairs where required. Carry out meter readings and report discrepancies. Check street furniture such as seats, bins and notices boards and carry out minor repairs as necessary. Undertake rubbish removal across sites.

Check and adjust heating and lighting controls within all buildings and car parks. Carry out car park inspections and undertake minor emergency repairs to car park pot holes. Rectify minor faults on the pay and display machines.

Arrange and carry out viewings of pavilions and community centres with prospective hirers. Meet contractors on site to open premises, hand over keys or issue documents as required. Arrange installations of street furniture including street name plates, bus shelters, public seats, litter bins and dog bins. Put up notices across all sites and venues as required. Take responsibility for flag raising and maintain a diary of flag raising days.

You will be expected to be reactive and responsive at short notice
