The Financial Services section is responsible for the many of the core functions of the Finance Department including accounts payable and receivables, cash and banking and the preparation of statutory financial statements and returns.


We are seeking to appoint an Accounts Receivable Finance Office who amongst other duties will support the Trust's growing private patient activity.

This would involve supporting the Receivables Team Manager in liaising with patients and insurance companies over billing and collection of payments for private patient treatments.

Another key activity will be work on credit control of the Trust's large commercial activity arm - NHS Fleet Solutions.

This involves liaising with other NHS Trusts and Local Authorities ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner.

Experience in credit control would be useful but more important are good communication skills and the willingness to get involved in credit control.


  • Provides and receives routine information which requires tact or persuasive skills; provides and receives complex or sensitive information
  • Discusses queries from staff and customers where there may issues of nonpayment of invoices and charges. Must be perceptive to concerns of customers but be able to adhere to own objectives re obtaining payment.
  • Explains to customers basis of charges e.g. private patients, overseas visitors in a way that is understandable and will neither offend or antagonise.
  • Explains to customers with no specialist financial knowledge why VAT may be chargeable.
  • Persuades customers of validity of charges assertiveness required when they challenge basis of charge.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post.

  • Ensure invoices and credit notes are processed in accordance with procedures, investigate
enquires and queries and provides advice as required.

  • Supports AR Team Leader with month end procedures and Oracle housekeeping tasks.
  • Ensure aspects of work of the AR section is completed on time and to financial timescales
  • Contacts customers directly to enquire over late or nonpayment
