An experienced social worker is required to provide a social work service to children and families arising out of the Council's duties and powers under legislation and regulations on behalf of the Department specified in the Children's Act 2004, Every ChildMatters and such other legislation as is or may be appropriate to work with children and their families.

To work on a busy Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) progressing initial referrals from professionals and member(s) of the public according to stricttimescales.

The role involves the collation and analysis of information, professional communication with partners to obtain information about children and families to assist in decision making, a good knowledge of handling sensitive information and workingwith confidentiality is essential, promoting the professional face of the council by effective communication with members of the public and partner agencies, an ability to hold difficult conversations about child protection concerns as the initial professionaldiscussing concerns with family members and working enthusiastically to make decisions within the council's ethos of 'getting it right the first time'.
