Apprentice People Services Assistant:


We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join our People Services Team, to provide a comprehensive, accurate, timely, quality and consistent HR Advice and Administration service across Rexel UK.

We will provide the training and you need and support a Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship


The role of an Apprentice People Services Assistant is varied and interesting and will include the following areas:

  • Provide advice and guidance to employees and managers on terms & conditions of employment, HR policies/procedures & processes. Diagnose & resolve first line employment relations queries, in line with employment legislation and Rexel UK policy and procedures.
  • Process monthly HR transactional work, including new starter workflows, employment contracts and reference checking, employee change/leaver processes, ensuring these are administered accurately and passed to Payroll within deadlines set.
  • Administer family friendly processes including maternity and paternity leave, collating required documentation, producing template letters and monitoring/communication of pay related dates to Payroll.
  • Provide HR administration support to the wider HR Operational teams, producing template letters and providing data, information, and reports as required.
  • Provide guidance and support to users of MyView and Success Factors, resolving basic system admin user queries and issues.
  • Daytoday management of the HR Information Systems; maintaining and updating employee records accurately, investigate and resolve employee record errors and issues.
  • Maintain electronic employee files; filing and archiving documents accurately in line with electronic filing protocol and data protection requirements.
  • Assist with ad hoc project work as and when required by the People Services Manager and wider HR team.

Person / Experience

  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • Good communication skills, with the confidence to interact with internal customers and colleagues to build relationships.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and manage own workload.
  • Having good customer service skills an advantage
  • Must be fully proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy of work is essential.
  • An understanding of HR practice, employment law and legislation would be an advantage.
