The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust(PAH) is looking to appoint a Smoking Cessation Advisor.

This post holder is responsible for meeting the objectives defined in the Tobacco Dependence Delivery Model defined by NHSE.


You will be expected to take an active role in the department, ensure that all Smoking Dependence data metrics for the Acute ward are obtained and delivered.

To support the mobilisation and delivery of the Tobacco Dependence programme.


To work across adult in-patient wards under the supervision of the Tobacco Dependency Lead, undertaking tobacco dependence assessments, educating service users about options to manage their tobacco dependence differently.


To play a key role with a wide multidisciplinary team, to raise awareness of the harm from tobacco and the affects on long term physical health.


To support the priorities of the Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust in relation to this project, working with departments across PAH to secure a collective approach to smoking cessation and smoke free hospitals.


To build and maintain excellent relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team, working with them and communicating effectively to deliver high quality patient care.

To engage fully in development of services, driving forward innovations to meet the anticipated future


The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is a District General Hospital providing acute services to the population of West Essex and East Hertfordshire from a 489 bedded site in Harlow, Essex (PAH) and two Community hospitals In-patient, St Margaret Hospital (SMH), Epping and the Herts and Essex Hospital (HEH) in Bishops Stortford.
