Reporting to the Marine Coordinating Manager, the Marine Coordinator will be responsible for effectively managing vessels including ensuring vessel bulking operations are conducted in a timely manner and that there are no delays to vessel turnarounds times.

This role will provide the necessary level of operational support, guidance and direction to ensure maximum focus on both marine, operational issues and marine safety performance.


Duties of the role include:

  • Carrying out day to day scheduling of vessels to ensure operational efficiency is achieved
  • Attending customer planning meetings
  • Liaising with clients and vendors to plan the underdecks requirements of the vessels to meet client demands and sailing times
  • Liaising with vessel masters\surveyors\bulk companies
  • Ensuring bulk planning is conducted in line with SIMOPS procedure
  • Arranging vessel turnarounds in third party ports
  • Ensuring efficient and timely turnaround for vessels
  • Building and maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with stakeholders and providing accurate, timely responses to queries raised
  • Monitoring quality / arranging sampling of vessels fuel and pot water tanks
  • Providing marine out of hours cover
  • Collating information for accounting purposes
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

  • Accustomed to working effectively in a fastpaced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
  • Ability to work standalone while a positive contributor to the wider team
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Solutions based, motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance and customer support, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Numeric and computer literate (AX/ILMS would be advantageous), with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning & organising skills.
  • Computer literate with welldeveloped IT skills across the Microsoft suite.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Educated to National 5 level or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications/Competencies

  • Previous experience in Microsoft Dynamics AX
