As the Group Health & Safety, Risk and Compliance Officer at Kingfisher, you will take the professional lead on setting, embedding & adherence to the Group Health & Safety (H&S) standards throughout all our banners (B&Q, Screwfix, Castorama, Brico Depot & Koctas) and functions.

You'll also be responsible for coordinating Kingfishers internal & external H&S networks and preparing insightful reports to our Group Executive (GE) Committee and Board.


What's the job?:

  • Ensure Kingfisher are compliant with applicable laws and regulations relating to H&S and welfare at work, monitoring these through our Group H&S Management System (EcoOnline).
  • Set and communicate the group standards and policies ensuring the banners and global functions are aware of and adhering to these.
  • Design and operate effective and efficient systems and processes for group wide compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Prepare regular reports to the GE on status and areas for improvement relating to H&S and contribute to external reports (annual report, responsible business, and regulatory reporting).
  • As a H&S SME you will maintain current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in our markets to enable group wide compliance and promote an environment of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Conduct investigations into high severity accidents, incidents or near misses, or where emerging trends are identified, make recommendations for improvement as appropriate.
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships through business partnering with banner, Global Function H&S representatives, legal / compliance and internal audit teams in order to facilitate sharing and implementation of good practice and minimum expectations and update H&S content into store / factory audit plans.

What you'll bring:

  • Established Health & Safety or Compliance professional in a recognised role, working for a large, matrix organisation
  • Enthusiastic about the business benefits of good compliance
  • Chartered membership of IOSH or other
  • Proven understanding of the risk assessment processes
  • Confident when communicating across various levels and cultures, both internally and externally
