We are looking to appoint an outstanding Clerk with energy and enthusiasm and a love for working in education and governance.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join a group of Clerks working within a large Multi-Academy Trust in North Dorset.

Most meetings will be in school in the early evening, but some may be held virtually. Clerking for these meetings can be undertaken remotely; no experience necessary, regular training and support will be provided.


Posts are available at the following schools, and can be done remotely:

  • Sherborne Abbey Primary School
  • The Gryphon School, Sherborne
  • St Mary the Virgin Primary School, Gillingham
  • St Mary's Primary School, Bradford Abbas
  • Harbour Vale School, Sherborne
- be able to work flexibly in school settings in the early evening (with prior
- arrangement) and occasionally during the school day

- have excellent communication skills
- be able to attend meetings and take minutes
- have the ability to embrace and contribute to the vision of Trust schools

- have the ability to support, challenge and inspire
- be willing to development their professional clerking skills


SAST is a strong and ambitious Trust of both primary and secondary schools seeking to ensure an excellent and sustainable 0-19 education for children within our community across Dorset and South Somerset.

The Trust now consists of 5,700 children and over 850 staff working in our 18 schools and shared services teams.


You are asked to provide the following:

Sherborne Area Schools Trust, has an absolute commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

The Trust and School follows the national and Somerset policies and procedures for child protection and security and the interview will include questions about safeguarding children.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This role is UK- based and your right to work will need to be established as part of the appointment process
