Our Innovation Graduate Trainees will support and manage the delivery of our innovation services, collaborative innovation projects and internal innovation processes.

This ranges from identifying hospital needs, researching potential technical solutions and working with partners to support the co-creation of new health technology.

The new health campus boasts one of the largest dedicated children's centred innovation facilities in the world, with 8 years of product development experience, we are a key opinion leader in children's health technologies.

Alder Hey has a proud history of innovation spanning over a hundred years.

From antibiotics and specialising neonatal surgery in our previous Victorian site, to world first artificial intelligence chatbot and 3D printing at the point of care.

Main duties and Responsibilities


Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Communication

Supporting hospital engagement workshops and identification of healthcare challenges

Communicate with a range of stakeholders providing recommendations, factual and evidenced based views in relation to complex projects/plans

Support and facilitate sound communication throughout the project team

Analytical and Judgement Skills

Determine how potential conflicting information will affect project priorities

Planning and organising skills

Support (where applicable) the Innovation Consultants on the project management and delivery

Responsibility for patient/client care

Incidental contact with patients

Responsibility for policy/service development

Provide administrative support including when appropriate to all team members to support a range of department initiatives

Carry out other appropriate delegated duties as required

Responsibility for information resources

Supporting the administration and reporting on the innovation project tracking database.

Responsibility for research and development

Extensive researching background on business and technical aspects of healthcare needs and solutions

Technology and partner scouting to identify solutions and engage new co-creation partners

Commercial opportunity validation & project due diligence research and documentation

The job description and person specification are an outline of the tasks, responsibilities and outcomes required of the role. The job holder will carry out any other duties as may reasonably be required by their line manager.

Further Development & Progression


The job description and person specification may be reviewed on an ongoing basis in accordance with the changing needs of the Department and the Organisation.

With support from the organisation and line manager, should the individual meet the requirements as outlined below, the position will be considered to progress to a band 5 from a band 4 as part of the review process within a 2 year timeframe.


Requirements:

Team Leader on the administration and reporting on the innovation project tracking database; to supervise all staff complete tasks in order to maintain the database for the department ensuring all projects have fully complete and accurate project documentation including developing and maintaining project triage, validate and performance status reports

Driving forward and taking lead for ensuring timely delivery of triage and validation project activities within the innovation pipeline including developing and maintaining the innovation SOP is up-to-date to adhere to both departmental priorities and also trust policies and procedures

Taking on the role of co-management of project delivery with mínimal supervision including ensuring the right people are invited for meetings, as well as organising and facilitating these events, attend relevant meetings, documenting minutes and actions, and support the production of project reports when required

Proven engagement internal or external including supporting the Innovation Consultants with governance arrangements and board meetings, and developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a number of operational, clinical and corporate departments

Presenting to high level audiences

Management of individual project budgets being an authorised signatory for small payments

Liaising with third party suppliers
