Founded over 15 years ago, a company that manufactures and sells highly aesthetic glass and
aluminium home improvement products are looking for a Yard Manager to join its team offering a
salary of £26,000. The company operates in the construction and home improvement space and sells
both B2C and B2B. Company turnover is £4-£4.5M has around 50 employees and is located close to
Crawley/Gatwick.
This role is the key conduit and transaction point between the warehouse and the transportation.
It is a predominantly hands on role keeping the storage area and stock in good order. Part of the role
involves administration so proficiency in IT is a requirement.

As Yard Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Receive, store and issue materials checking items against relevant documentation
  • Receive and distribute equipment, tools, etc.
  • Check condition of all goods; reporting damage/defect as required
  • Ensure stock is safely stored, maintained, and remains secure
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder as required, keeping accurate records
  • Participate in stock counts/check
  • Maintain the yard to a high standard of cleanliness and safety
  • Dispose of waste appropriately
  • Check and ensure stocks levels are monitored on the system
  • Create orders for stock replenishing in time to always maintain correct stock levels for
continued

  • Create orders for equipment, tools, etc
  • Control stock and develop systems to have it under control and monitored
  • Coordinate and control container or other shipments of imported goods

We are looking for a Yard Manager who has the following:

  • Full UK manual driving license with no more than 6 penalty points
  • Evidence of sound level of general education including GCSE English and
Maths or equivalent

  • Willingness to participate in further training and development opportunities Experience
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing or product assembly environment
  • Forklift experience
  • Previous experience of dealing and negotiating with suppliers
  • Previous experience of working in a mechanical or technical environment
  • Experience of using a range of hand and/or mechanical equipment
  • Good communication
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good working knowledge of IT
  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures
You will be working Monday-Friday, 07:30-16:30.
