Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) is a world renowned centre of clinical excellence and one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the UK.

The Trust is made up of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital (which includes the Children's Hospital, West Wing, Eye Hospital, Heart Centre and Women's Centre), the Churchill Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, all located in Oxford, and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, north Oxfordshire.

We provide a wide range of clinical services, specialist services (including cardiac, cancer, musculo-skeletal and neurological rehabilitation) medical education, training and research.

Most services are provided in our hospitals, but over six percent are delivered from 44 other locations across the region, and some in patients' homes.

We employ nearly 12,600 staff (including 4,154 nurses and midwives and 2,024 doctors) and our total turnover in 2016/17 was £1 billion.

Our collaboration with the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University underpins the quality of the care that is provided to patients, from the delivery of high-quality research, bringing in-novation from the laboratory bench to the bedside, to the delivery of high-quality education and training of doctors

The post-holder will be involved in the pre-operative assessment and management of patients undergoing all aspects of HPB surgery, both cancer and benign, operative procedures and caring for these patients in the post-operative phase.

There will be ample opportunities to participate in both open and laparoscopic HPB surgery for benign and malignant disease. We are also developing our Robotic Surgery

There is an expectation that the post holder will contribute to the rota for emergency general surgery patients at all stages of the emergency surgery pathway, including initial triage assessment, surgery and post-operative care (currently 1 in 15,).

Emergency Surgery is based at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Additionally, the post holder will contribute to morning weekend ward rounds of HPB inpatients at the Churchill site (3 in 15 weekends).
