The Head of Finance Operations is a key role within the Finance Directorate of the University of Manchester responsible for circa 55 FTE's delivering Finance Operations across the University and its subsidiaries.

The post holder will lead this large function within the Finance Directorate who are currently embarking on a period of change and processes improvement.

People leadership and the development of teams, as well as supporting individuals in achieving their full potential, will be an important focus of the role.


As a senior leader within the Finance Directorate, you will embed continual process improvement into the Finance Operations function which interacts with many stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, students, staff, and regulatory bodies.

You will develop staff, teams, processes, and technology into a high-performing function delivering excellent customer service and modern, efficient business processes.

The functions comprise Accounts Receivables (including Credit Control), Income and Billing activities, Accounts Payable, Cash and Banking, Master data and a Finance Helpdesk supporting a broad range of internal and external customers.
