We've been around since 2001 and are focused on affecting change that will make lives better, make Cornwall fairer and combat inequality and injustice.


We are now looking for a Community Gateway Locality Lead to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term contract to work with people in Redruth on what matters to them.

This role will have evening and weekend commitments.

By joining our team, you will have the chance to work with a diverse range of people across Cornwall and help them take positive action to gain the skills and confidence they need to make a change in their lives.


The Role
As the Community Gateway Locality Lead, will support people on their journey to wellness, social inclusion, learning or work.

You will manage a continuously changing caseload of members of the St Austell community and help them to identify and overcome their personal barriers to achieving their goals accepting referrals form the community gateway team.

You will be responsible for supporting participants in taking positive action, and at the centre of this is the individual and what matters to them.

This is done through a creation of an action plan with the individual, empowering agency in the person (where possible) and taking steps to help bridge the gaps in services.


You will have insight into the challenges that can face people which might have come from personal lived experience, from volunteering or from other employment.

You will be comfortable working and communicating with a broad range of people, from diverse backgrounds.

You will support the organisation in maintaining a culture of inclusivity and a high quality and safe environment for all community members.


About You
To join us as a Community Gateway Locality Lead, you will need:

  • Minimum of 1 years experience in a similar role, working in a person-centered environment
  • Understand how to overcome the barriers for people from disadvavntaged communities and for people facing multiple and complex needs
  • Have an understanding of the need for confidentiality and equal opportunities
  • Ability to manage a caseload
  • An understanding of working with people through traumatic events
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Have experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs
  • Ability to arrange and deliver community activities
  • A creative approach to problem solving
  • A high level of time management and planning skills
  • Ability to motivate people to make positive change
  • Able to perform to targets and deadlines
  • Ability to manage competing demands
  • Computer proficiency
  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends
  • Good communication skills
  • Level 2 English and Maths qualification, or willingness to work towards a Level 2
A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle would also be desirable.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week on an initial fixed-term 12 month contract.


Flexibility to work evenings and weekends will be required, as will the ability to travel to different locations at short notice.
