Job Description:


Wood Mackenzie's Short-Term Power Market Research team comprises industry experts who are detail-oriented, intellectually curious, commercially savvy and have robust technical abilities.


Your interest in market research proves you hold these characteristics and are comfortable taking complex, disparate ideas and distilling them into simple, actionable analytics.


About the role


The Market Associate will serve as the driving force in delivering industry-leading short-term power outlooks based on a blend of proprietary and public data.


Market Associate Core Responsibilities:


  • Prepare clientfacing content on a timely and accurate basis;
  • Ensure the highest standards of data quality and availability are met and maintained for use by the team and broader organization;
  • Liaise with developers and data collection teams to improve efficiency and expand analytical capabilities;
  • Run regional support workbooks daily and continuously improve the level of granularity provided to the team and customer;
  • Manipulate large datasets and determine correlations and relationships between potential market drivers, prices, and events;
  • Improve current processes by automating critical tasks using macros (visual basic/Python);
  • Present the teams with research projects & presentations on relevant topics and improvements to processes and methodology as requested

Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in economics, finance, math, stats, or energy related discipline.
  • Previous experience or demonstrated interest in power vertical
  • 1+ years of business and/or professional work experience
  • Preferable to have experience in using programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic, or comparable languages
