What you need to know about the role

This is an exciting opportunity which will see you working within the Energy team ensuring the safe and reliable operation of High Voltage equipment.

You will work within the parameters of the British Steel High Voltage Safety rules/regulations to monitor, control and sanction all operations on the Scunthorpe sites' High Voltage distribution systems from 3.3KV to 33KV.


Carrying out High Voltage switching operations, High Voltage testing and issuing of High Voltage safety documentation within the Central Power Station are all key components of the role.

You will monitor alarms and other data systems to ensure appropriate actions are taken to maintain reliable operation. You will also direct plant based personnel with investigations into problems with High Voltage equipment. You will generate written and electronic reports, and influence electrical energy usage.


What we need to know about you


You should be an experienced decision maker, who is able to relay and communicate effective messages to all levels of personnel during difficult or abnormal situations as they arise.

You will be able to multi-task, leading others through fault finding processes whilst working under pressure.


A sound knowledge of the plant and processes involved in an integrated iron and steel works would also be beneficial.

£36,135.10 per year
