Defra group Security function is recruiting a Personal Security Advisor who will report to the Head of Physical & Personnel Security.
Defra group Security enable Defra group to make informed, balanced decisions on security risks to achieve our environmental outcomes whilst keeping our assets secure.
The Personnel Security Team aims to manage and minimise the risk of people exploiting legitimate access to the department's assets, people, and premises, whilst providing our people with advice and measures they can undertake to mitigate their security risks.
This is an excellent opportunity to work as a Personnel Security Advisor for Defra to continually develop, implement and operate a proportionate security approach to manage their varied security activities spanning physical, personnel and cyber disciplines.
You will work across all levels of the organisation, including the Directors to provide risk-based advice on the effectiveness of protective security controls.
Access to learning and development tailored to your role will be available as well as support from team members. This post will also require some occasional travel and overnight stays.

Responsibilities
- Identification and evaluation of highrisk groups across Defra group, ensuring that those in highly sensitive roles are known.
- Engagement with stakeholders to gain buyin of the Protective Security Risk Assessment process and outcomes.
- Conducting Protective Security Risk Assessments.
- Ensure appropriate protective security measures are in place, including providing tailored security briefings across Defra group.
- Working with the security communications team to enhance the security culture of personnel security, based on findings following reviews and evaluation of roles.
- Liaising with the wider Defra group Security to aid in the delivery of security measures.
Skills and Experience
- Experience of delivering security services in large, complex organisations.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable in liaising with senior managers and executives.
- Experience of engaging, advising and influencing at working levels of an organisation.
- Ability to take a crossgovernment approach, considering the impact of your actions in the broadest of settings.
- Performing effectively to deadlines, maintaining focus in challenging situations and adapting to find solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders.
- Certificate in Information Security Management Principles or equivalent experience and commitment to work towards qualification in Information Security Management Principles.
