An exciting opportunity for a full-time senior administrator role directly supporting the Mental Health Support Teams reporting to the Head of Service and the Clinical & Strategic Lead across Mid & South Essex.

MHSTs support children and young people nationally. The MHSTs are based in and near schools and colleges, supporting children and young people.


The teams will build on the support already in place from school counsellors, nurses, educational psychologists, and the voluntary sector to treat those with mild to moderate mental health issues in school and will help children and young people with more severe needs to access the right support and provide a link to CAMHS.


The main responsibilities of the posts:

  • Supporting administration and organisational tasks for the Head of Service & Strategic and Clinical Lead for MHST
  • Providing supervision to a team of administrators
  • Provide a high quality confidential and comprehensive administrative service
  • Manage the diary and make decisions on behalf of the Manager in prioritising and rearranging diary commitments.
  • Operate bring forward and reminder systems.
  • Undertake word processing of all documents to a high standard, in an agreed Trust style and using an appropriate referencing system.
  • Utilise advanced level IT skills to create reports, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain filing systems (electronic and paper) to ensure effective access to relevant information.
  • Supporting the development and administration of the new MHSTs.
  • Using System One or similar, to interrogate patient information and update accordingly.
  • Minute taking and scribe at meetings.
  • Liaising with members of staff including, clinicians and senior managers
Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.

All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.

As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.


This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,136 and a maximum payment of £1,915 per annum pro rata).

  • Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills.
  • Administrative experience essential, experience within the NHS desirable
