We have a great opportunity for a Senior Capital Project Controller to join our Project Controls. team working within the Capital Delivery Programme Management Office, (PMO).
Effective project management requires effective planning and control, As a Senior Project Controller you will work alongside other senior project delivery professionals and be tasked with providing effective planning and control techniques and guidance to project teams.
Your aim will be to ensure United Utilities delivers against its targets by assisting with the successful delivery of the Capital Programme, ensuring that projects are delivered to the required outcomes (time, cost and quality).
Job Accountabilities:
- Monitoring the performance of projects within the assigned portfolio and advising the Regional Delivery Manager where intervention is required.
- Ensuring project schedules are developed and maintained in line with the agreed service levels.
- Ensuring project budgets are established, project costs controlled; ensuring accurate cost forecasts and profiles, accurately assessing value of work and accruals and ensuring costs booked to the correct codes.
- Ensuring project resource demands are forecast accurately across the portfolio
- Ensuring change management processes are followed.
- Ensuring Risk Management processes are followed.
- Ensuring Data Quality standards are met
- Maintaining appropriate project baselines
- Ensuring that project outputs are captured, reported and remain accurate
- Monitoring trends and forecasts and work with the Regional Delivery / Delivery Manager and with Project Controllers to identify conflicts and threats to Project success.
- Preparing summary reports to highlight project issues, risks and forthcoming milestones and actions, and prompting intervention as necessary.
- Supporting the Programme Services Manager in ensuring overall control of the delivery area programme.
- Interrogating and analysing contractor's schedules to ensure technically sound. Working with the Project Team to ensure timescales, resourcing and sequencing are realistic.
- Mentoring Junior Project controls staff
- Line management responsibility for Project Controllers.
- Supporting the development of Project Controls processes and systems.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Educated in a project management or construction industry discipline, or alternatively can demonstrate a proven track record in similar type role over a significant period of time
- Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
- Ability to assign tasks and prioritise activities for the team
- Decision making on routine day to day tasks.
- Ability to develop and lead improvements in Project Controls Processes and systems
- A good understanding of the project delivery process and timescales to effectively deliver a project.
- Strong analytical & IT skills, particularly Excel, Primavera P6 & SAP
- Demonstrate independence and ability to influence decision makers and build effective relationships
