WHAT TO EXPECT


The PTTB Supervisor will be responsible for the acceptance and Test of Prototype Engines, Whole Vehicle Testing, EDU and HV batteries in support of overall powertrain cycle plan.

This activity is supported by establishing support and control of customer engine and whole vehicle test requests ensuring that engines and vehicles are tested to the correct procedure and process.

Delivery of high quality data and observing test standards.


They are responsible for leading the test technicians, operators, fitters and logistics personnel to ensure timely quality delivery to defined processes and for optimising the human resources to achieve the build/instalation targets.

They will resolve any issues identified with the facilities they are responsible for along with relevant processes or escalate appropriately to the facility management team also within EO department.

They will ensure that all members of the team maintain high levels of valid, technical competency in line with E-Learn Assessment of Competence and JLR-SP-060M.

They will drive forward the PTTB Operations and processes to ensure that the team delivers a world class product on time, to specification and at cost.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Plan and organise human resource for upcoming operational activities tests
  • Run daily start up meetings and for job resource allocation
  • Ensure the progress made is recorded and updated in the appropriate project management tools
  • Develop and compile KPI's and report to management on weekly basis
  • Ensure projects are kept on target and own recovery plans when projects are at risk of missing target. Recovery aims to minimise impact of delays.
  • Own, drive and project management of projects from through the stage gated process (Prep, build, test, remove, dispose). Order required parts to meet project delivery (test parts, facility parts and consumables)
  • Instruct and train team of fitters & technicians to high standards delivery and ensure all team is familiar and adhering to gated process
  • Develop and maintain SBI board
  • Responsible for H&S, RA, COSHH and all related documents/processes.
  • Ensures quality and availability of all information, instructions and parts required to enable test activity and subsequent disposal of the 'Test Property'.
  • Implements and manages an effective material and consumables control system.
  • Support the sign off of new test facilities as fit for purpose
  • Mentoring and Training of those in Early Careers and Training as appropriate.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience and understanding of Test facilities, processes, equipment and leading technologies
  • Proven experience of technical leadership and workload management experience
  • Ability to validate, understand and explain engineering documents to others
  • Clear and confident communicator both orally and in writing
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Ability to accurately and concisely present complex issues to a diverse audience
  • Ability to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office and Excel competency to produce plans, reports, presentations, graphs, processes and SPL documents
  • Ability to mentor and train others
  • A full UK Driving Licence with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualifications and 2 years accident free record

Desirable:

  • A Level 6 qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing operations or related discipline
