The Primary Mental Health Specialist (Targeted Youth Services) post is an exciting opportunity to make a positive difference to the mental health of children and young people who are involved within the targeted youth services.

The post will be collocated within the targeted youth services in Sunderland.

This is a new post that has been developed to work closely with the youth justice services, prevention and substance misuse services, offering mental health assessments, interventions as well as consultation and advice to the practitioners in those services.


The post is part of the Sunderland Community CAMHS which is a service that is leading the way in child and adolescent mental health getting help services.

We deliver high quality interventions, and develop the skills and knowledge of universal child practitioners in child and adolescent mental health.

Main duties of the job


Although the post holder will be collocated in the targeted youth service they will also be part the multi-disciplinary team within Sunderland community CAMHS.

Sunderland Community CAMHS offers interventions to children and young people with mental health difficulties at the earliest stage. The service facilitates the provision of services that promote resilience, and enable positive mental health.


The intentions of the post will be to widen the understanding by offering consultation, training and supervision to practitioners and providing interventions directly to children, young people and their families.
