Metro Mechanical is expanding, and we are looking to recruit a new
Civils Operative (Drainage) to join our Civils and Excavation Team.

Our Civils teams provides essential repair and construction services to business premises within the UK.

Our work is focused on asset repair and maintenance, including replacing defective manhole covers, road gullies, channel drainage, and various forms of excavation and re-instatement works.

As a
Civils Operative, you will be working and training alongside qualified civils/drainage teams with the aim of gaining the experience and knowledge to eventually become a fully competent lead Civils Engineer.

You will report to our Gravesend HQ but must be willing to travel to our client sites throughout the UK and be flexible to do early morning starts, normally around 5am, and stay away from home when required; we will pay hotel accommodation and an allocated budget for meals whilst away.

We offer a competitive salary of

Working hours: 45 hours pw, plus overtime and weekend work available.

Duties will include:

Working at clients' sites industrial estates, retail parks, shopping centres and office buildings, this will be nationwide
Setting up safe working areas
Operating plant and equipment
Heavy lifting, excavation works, repair road gullies and channel drainage
Replacing defective manhole covers
Concrete block paving and tarmac finishing
Speaking to customers whilst on site in a polite and professional manner
Driving a company vehicle when necessary a full UK Driving Licence will be essential

What we would like from you:

Some previous experience working within the construction industry
Drainage experience is not essential; however, it would be advantageous if you have some knowledge of drainage or plumbing
Good Communication and problemsolving skills
A strong team player
Willingness to learn
